innovative training in Biological Engineering

The IUT Grand Ouest Normandie offers a wide range of study programmes in various fields. These include the Bachelor of Technology (BUT) in Biological Engineering, Food Science and Biotechnology.

This course focuses on the study of the biological, chemical and physical processes involved in the production of food and biotechnology products. Each year, it welcomes 28 students determined to develop and improve production processes, ensure product quality and safety, and comply with environmental and health standards.

This study programme combines theoretical courses, practical laboratory work and work placements, enabling students to acquire a balance between academic knowledge and professional skills.

At the heart of the mission of the Biological Engineering department of the IUT Grand Ouest Normandie is the objective of making its students aware of the realities of the industrial world. Students have the opportunity to be trained on a real PACKINOV packaging machine. This hands-on experience enables them to understand how packaging machines work and what is at stake in an industrial environment.

The students learn how to set up operating procedures and use the machine to produce various recipes within the establishment. They discover the importance of parameters and the precision of settings for packaging various products, such as cream desserts, yoghurts on a bed of jam, fromage frais and even jellied waters!

SAFETY with PACKINOV

Concern for the safety of students was paramount in the choice made by the Biological Engineering department of the IUT Grand Ouest Normandie when it came to selecting a packaging machine for their Biological Engineering course. After examining several models on the market, the department found that many of them were not sufficiently safe for training students.

The Biological Engineering department of the Grand Ouest Normandie IUT has chosen PACKINOV's RMD Eco2 packaging machine. This fully enclosed machine is perfectly safe for students. The department stresses the importance of vigilance and safety when using this type of equipment, essential skills for future industry professionals.

The RMD Eco2 machine also offers the option of producing different formats. This allows teachers to train their students in format changes and different settings, crucial skills in the professional world.

for student learning

After incorporating PACKINOV's RMD Eco2 packaging machine into its courses, the Biological Engineering department of the IUT Grand Ouest Normandie has expressed its great satisfaction with the positive impact of this tool on its students' education.

"Using the RMD Eco2 machine gives students a valuable opportunity to learn about packaging before they go into production in an industrial environment," says David DELAUNAY, Senior Lecturer and Director of Studies in the second year of the Food Science and Biotechnology course at Caen IUT.

The PACKINOV machine provides unique visibility into the machine, allowing students to follow each stage of the packaging process. This helps teachers to clearly explain the operation of the various modules, including automation and sensors. This in-depth understanding enables students to better parameterise the machine, master it and anticipate needs.

Very satisfied with its investment, the Biological Engineering department of the IUT Grand Ouest Normandie is offering to open its doors to industrialists and craftsmen in the region who would like to see the machine in action. "If you need to see the machine in action, don't hesitate to contact us," adds Mr DELAUNAY.

This initiative illustrates its commitment to providing a practical and innovative education for its students, while strengthening links with local industry.

100% French design and manufacture

All our semi-automatic and automatic machines are designed and manufactured in France by our in-house Design Office, at our production site in Beynost in the Ain department, in the heart of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. More than just a sales argument, at PACKINOV, 100% French manufacturing is a reality and almost an obsession!

And our objectives are clear: to reach 100% of PACKINOV subcontracting partners in France, so that we can play an active role in the national revival and momentum.

Today, our results are already very positive, with over 98% from our partners based in France, including 73% in the Auvergne Rhône Alpes region and 19% in the Ain. And the others are all European!
